Refresh Kids’ Eating
Building healthy eating habits after childhood cancer
An online, self-paced program for parents and carers that includes information, helpful tips, recipes and activities to encourage healthy eating after finishing cancer treatment.
Many parents and carers share that it can be very challenging to get children to eat healthy foods while they’re on treatment. It can be very stressful and may have led to compromising on healthier options to make sure their child was eating throughout this time.
When treatment ends, parents and carers may find themselves “stuck” in these unhealthy eating habits that were formed during treatment. It can be daunting to try and transition back to healthier eating, but you’re not alone. The Refresh Kids’ Eating program aims to help you build healthy eating habits, one step at a time, with fun and simple tools specifically aimed at parents of children who have finished their cancer treatment.
What is the Refresh Kids’ Eating Program?
Refresh Kids’ Eating is a self-paced online nutrition program designed to help parents and carers support their children to learn healthy eating habits after cancer treatment. The program was created with a team of health professionals from the Kids’ Cancer Centre at UNSW.
The online program, available on the myRedkite portal, is accessible on your computer, tablet and mobile, and comes with:
Information on habit building, how to make healthier food choices, children’s nutritional needs and more.
Fun activities for your child to get them involved and teach them about being healthy.
A bag of items to help you, including a guidebook, stickers, a meal planner, and shopping list.
Simple, healthy recipes that you can try with your child.
