What is the family wellbeing program?

Children’s Hospital at Westmead

The shock of hearing that your child is sick, particularly when the ‘cancer’ word is used, it was devastating … once the shock subsides then you start to think of the logistics … And then this lovely lady turns up with a parking voucher and a meal. The parent kitchen has food and is restocked every week. There’s a beading program, this week we have a hairdresser… it really makes a difference.

Audrey is Redkite’s Family Wellbeing Coordinator at the Cancer Centre for Children. She’s your go-to person for everything family wellbeing-related at Westmead. She’s on the ward Monday, Wednesdays, Thursday and Fridays.

You can email her at amorisseau@redkite.org.au

Through the Family Wellbeing Program, Redkite supports families from French-speaking New Caledonia. Audrey speaks French and with the help of French speaking volunteers she is the main contact for families during their stay.

We organise qualified professionals including hairdressers, massage therapists and beauty therapists  who volunteer their time to give parents some respite. We also have morning and afternoon teas, craft sessions and face painting. For more information, chat to Audrey on the ward.
