KiteCrew App User Guide

This guide is intended to provide basic user instructions on the key functionalities available in the KiteCrew App.

KiteCrew is a free support app that can help you to manage a group of helpers to take care of the day-to-day tasks that are left behind when a family is focusing on the care of their child. It is an easy way to organise the right help at the right time, keep a family’s closest supporters in the loop and access useful information that will help you support a family throughout their cancer experience.

The app can easily be downloaded for both iPhone and Android.

  1. Access the Play Store (Android) or App Store (iPhone) using your smartphone
  2. Search for KiteCrew
  3. Select KiteCrew
  4. Click Download

Once you have downloaded the app and set up your account, you can create your Network.

  • Name your Network
  • Provide some basic details
  • Upload a photo

If you are a parent or carer, we recommend that a close friend or family member sets this up for you. You can also allocate others to act as administrators. These people can manage all of the features within the app.

Invites are sent by SMS. You can do this by following the prompts and selecting people from your phone contacts or by adding phone numbers directly.

When inviting people, think about all of your contacts who have said ‘let me know how I can help’. People will surprise you. So don’t forget about your neighbours, parents in your child’s class, your work colleagues, your faith group or sporting club.
Once people have joined your Network, you can identify those who are closest to you by designating them your ‘inner circle’.

Your ‘inner circle’ will be able to see specific tasks that you allocate to this group only. The rest of your support network will not be able to see or accept these tasks.

Your help needs are created in the app as tasks.

  1. Go to Home
  2. Click + button
  3. Choose a task from the Help List or create a custom task
  4. Enter task details
  5. Save

Once you have entered the details of each task, it is visible to your support network who can click to accept and help out.

Chat folders help you to keep all communication in one place and easy to find. You can provide updates, upload photos, add shopping lists or scripts for collection, and discuss upcoming events.

  1. Click on Inbox
  2. Click on +
  3. Add folder topic and image
  4. Select if visible to ‘inner circle only’
  5. Click add topic
  6. Click on Topic name to get started.

Regular information and guidance is sent to your app and stored in folders in the Tips section. Based on the best evidence available, and designed to support you throughout a family’s cancer experience, our easy-to-digest educational tips guide your network to provide the best support possible.

Our online support team is available during business hours Monday to Friday. You can email them with any questions at support@quolly.co.
