Parents often tell us that their family and friends are essential support for them throughout their cancer experience, but when their child dies, it can be hard for others to understand what they’re going through.
Sometimes, it can be helpful to talk to others who know what you’re going through. Our support group for bereaved parents and carers is an opportunity for you to meet other people who have shared a similar experience.
This group is hosted monthly using Zoom. We welcome new and returning participants and you are free to join us as often as you need.
Each session is facilitated by two Redkite social workers, who will start off the conversation with a topic chosen by the group. This begins a casual conversation where everyone has the opportunity to share their thoughts and experiences. You’re welcome to share as much or as little as you like.
This group is for you if:
- You are a parent or carer connected to a child 0-18 years old who has died after a cancer diagnosis
- You want to meet and talk to other parents, guardians and carers in a similar situation
What will I gain from the group?
This group will connect you with other parents, guardians, and carers who understand grief and what it’s like when your child dies from cancer. It brings together people with a shared experience, whilst acknowledging that everyone grieves differently.
