Healing Images for Children

Nancy Klein

Muscle relaxation, calm breathing, visual imagery, stories, music, humour, and positive affirmations are techniques that enhance a child’s healing process. This book helps children with serious illnesses overcome the associated stresses of being sick by focusing on the connection between the mind and the body. It also offers parents and caretakers encouragement to face the emotional challenges of their child’s illness. Medical scenarios and vocabulary are explained for kids to help them better understand what is happening. Ideas for meeting doctors, easing hospital visits, coping with pain and nausea, taking medications, and building fun and friendship into recuperation will help children and parents through difficult times.
