2025 Spring Appeal

Cancer takes away a child’s dreams, and leaves families facing heartbreak and hardship

Help families tackle the trauma and financial burden of childhood cancer.

2025 Redkite Spring Appeal

Tye’rone (Tye) was a rising footy star. He lived and breathed the game, and had a dream of going pro.

But at just 14 years old, everything changed. After years of unexplained symptoms like headaches, vomiting, and delayed growth, Tye’rone was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour.

“I feel like all of my dreams have been taken away from me.”  – Tye

Kellee, a single parent, had already sacrificed so much to support Tye. But when Tye was diagnosed, she had to give up her job to care for him full-time.

They were told it would be a week in hospital, but it turned into two agonising months far from home. With no income and bills that kept coming, the financial pressure quickly became overwhelming.

“It was scary trying to care for my sick child, not knowing where our next meal was coming from or how I was going to keep a roof over our heads.”

The financial and emotional toll of childhood cancer is immense.

Kellee had used up all her leave. Bills piled up. Petrol for 16-hour round trips to hospital. Groceries. Rent. She lived in constant fear of losing their home while trying to save her son.

Thanks to generous supporters like you, Redkite provided urgent financial assistance so Kellee could keep the lights on and put food on the table.

Today, Tye lives with ongoing health issues and takes medication six times a day just to stay alive. He may never play footy again.

“I have a hard time accepting the new me. Music helps me deal with those emotions.” – Tye

But he’s found hope in music. Singing, playing keyboard and guitar have helped Tye slowly rebuilding his confidence.

Kellee is proud of her son’s resilience. And she’s deeply grateful for the support that helped them through one of life’s biggest challenges.

“I don’t know where we’d be without Redkite. But I know there are so many families out there going through childhood cancer now. They need Redkite too.” – Kellee

You can be the reason another family doesn’t fall apart.

Please donate today to help families like Tye’s tackle the trauma and financial burden of childhood cancer.
