After five rounds of chemo and waiting months for a liver for Mikaela, we didn’t know how we would survive financially and mentally. Thankfully our Social Worker introduced us to Redkite’s financial assistance because she knew my husband didn’t have a job and our savings were exhausted. We were so grateful for Redkite. I don’t know how we would have managed otherwise.
Gillian and her family moved to South Australia from India in March 2020, “hoping for a better life.” This was quickly disrupted after only one month when their 19-month-old daughter Mikaela was diagnosed with liver cancer. The family spent their first Christmas in Australia the middle of her treatment, anxiously waiting for a liver transplant.
Thanks to generous Redkite supporters like yourself, Gillian and Mikaela were given the support they needed and eventually received the liver transplant Mikaela needed to survive.
