Ponting Foundation’s Biggest Game of Cricket is back for fourth season

Biggest Game of CricketPonting Foundation’s largest annual fundraiser, the Biggest Game of Cricket is back this summer. For the fourth year, this fun initiative will help charities, including Redkite, help young people living in Australia and their families navigate through cancer.

From December through January, thousands of Australians will play Australia’s favourite sport with the goal of raising funds for the foundation. Through barbecues, raffles, entry fees and donations, the participants and their families and friends will support families with a childhood cancer diagnosis.

Since 2008, the Ponting Foundation, set up by Ricky and Rianna Ponting, has provided funding for a wide range of essential services for families on the cancer journey. In a message to all Australians, Ricky and Rianna say, “the Biggest Game of Cricket combines two of the biggest influences in our lives – cricket and helping raise funds for a wonderful cause. The work of the Ponting Foundation has become even more significant for us since our children were born – it has given us a greater sense of determination and resolve to support the children and families who aren’t as fortunate as us. We have been overwhelmed by the support we have already received and amazed at the goodwill shown to the Ponting Foundation by individuals, organisations and companies. It gives us a great optimism that together we can make a significant difference.”

Biggest Game of Cricket1Launched in 2010, Redkite’s Exceptional Needs Assistance program was created in response to families experiencing ‘rare and severe’ needs in addition to a childhood cancer diagnosis, bringing much-needed relief to families at the most vulnerable time in their lives. The Ponting Foundation has been the sole supporter of this program since its inception. It has assisted families with almost $500,000 in grants. The partnership is now poised to reach more families with funds raised from the Biggest Game of Cricket across the country.

Ricky and Rianna call on all Australians, “We really hope you can get on board with Biggest Game of Cricket this summer – it’s a fun way to help raise funds to support young people with cancer and their families.”

All Australians are encouraged to register their game here and invite their friends and family to join in as players and/or BGOC sponsors.
