Tom’s pedal-powered support
Sam’s uncle Tom rode across Australia to help other families cope with childhood cancer.

When Sam was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia at four years old, his whole family was thrown into turmoil. Thankfully, you and Redkite were there for his shell-shocked family.
You brought them a Red Bag diagnosis pack with everything they needed for hospital. And you ensured they had access to Redkite mental health support every step of their journey.
“Knowing that people care enough to help makes a huge difference,” says Candace.
“What we’ve been through has been really hard to deal with. Redkite has made it just that little bit easier. I’m so grateful.”
Cycling 4,500km from the Gold Coast to Perth was the hardest thing Tom has ever done. But it was also the most satisfying – because he raised $90,372 for the Redkite services that have made such a difference for his family.
“What we’ve been through has been really hard to deal with. Redkite has made it just that little bit easier. I’m so grateful.”

The trip took seven weeks across some daunting terrain, including Australia’s longest straight road in the mighty Nullaboor Plain. But Tom kept going – inspired by his brave four-year-old nephew Sam, who is going through treatment for leukaemia.
“Redkite has helped Sam, Ash and Candace, and countless other families, navigate childhood cancer,” he says.
Big-hearted people like you and Tom make everything Redkite does possible.
