Georgie Gardner joins Redkite Board

Redkite is delighted to welcome respected television journalist Georgie Gardner to its Board.

Leading children’s cancer support charity Redkite is delighted to welcome Nine News presenter, Georgie Gardner to its Board.

Ms Gardner is one of Australia’s best known and highly respected television journalists and has been an active Ambassador for Redkite since 2000. Since then, she has championed the work of Redkite, acting as MC at fundraising and other events, and lending her voice to campaigns to raise awareness of children’s cancer and vital funds for families.

Ms Gardner had personal experience of childhood cancer when her niece Zoe was diagnosed with leukaemia at the age of two. This has brought a depth of understanding to her work with Redkite and a passion for bringing awareness to the challenges that children and their families face through cancer.

“Georgie’s warm personality, compassion and belief in the work of Redkite, combined with her expertise in storytelling and media skills, make her an absolute asset to the Redkite Board. Her experience and profile will be hugely beneficial to Redkite during her term, as we look to improve our reach and impact for families facing childhood cancer,” said Redkite CEO Monique Keighery.

“I’ve been involved with Redkite for more than 20 years. More than ever we need to amplify the voices of families and bring greater awareness of the challenges they face, to make sure that nobody goes through that experience alone. Every family whose child receives a cancer diagnosis needs to know about Redkite and the incredible support they offer, during a family’s darkest days,” said Georgie Gardner.

Ms Gardner is currently anchoring Nine’s 6.00 pm Sydney news bulletin on Friday and Saturday nights as well as doing special news reports midweek. She was previously the news anchor for Nine’s breakfast program, the Today Show, for seven years as well as being the show’s co-host in 2018 and 2019, and has had roles with Radio 2NX, 2DAY FM, Ten Network and the Seven Network over her extensive media career.
