A/Prof. Chris Milross joins the Redkite Board
Redkite is delighted to welcome respected specialist radiation oncologist A/Prof. Chris Milross to its Board.
A/Prof. Chris Milross has joined Redkite’s Board of Directors.
Chris brings a hugely valuable oncology perspective to Redkite’s Board with more than 30 years’ experience in clinical oncology as a specialist radiation oncologist. He has trained and worked at The Prince of Wales Hospital, The MD Anderson Cancer Centre in Texas and the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and is also an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Sydney.
Chris was instrumental in the creation and establishment of the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse in 2013, where he is currently the Director of Radiation Oncology and Medical Services and a Member of the Hospital Executive Committee.
“I feel strongly that care for children and their families extends beyond medicine,” Chris said.
“I am delighted to join the Redkite Board and am eager to contribute to the vital work they do in supporting children and their families, no matter whether they are in the hospital or in the community.”
Redkite CEO Monique Keighery said Chris’ skills and profile within the sector will make him an asset to Redkite.
“Chris’ experience in oncology and passion in this area aligns perfectly with Redkite’s mission to help families survive and thrive throughout the entire cancer experience and beyond. Right now, it’s estimated that there are 10,000 mums, dads, diagnosed children and their siblings who are not getting the emotional and mental health support they need to cope with childhood cancer, and that the greatest gaps in support are after treatment ends,” Monique said.
“Hospitals and community-based providers need to work together to solve this problem. We are committed, alongside our partners in the health and community sectors, to ensuring the whole family gets the support they need when they need it,” she continued.
“Our long-standing positive relationships with hospitals across the country and Chris’ hands-on role within the healthcare system help position us strongly to understand and close these gaps in support.”
