June 2016 Sydney Swans fans are encouraged to Go Red For Redkite at the SCG on 19 June to celebrate the Swans’ 15-year partnership with Redkite.

Swans and Redkite Director and long term ambassador Adam Spencer said that since 2001, Swans greats including Brett Kirk, Jude Bolton, Rhyce Shaw and current player Harry Cunningham have spent countless hours supporting families facing childhood cancer by participating in special Family Days, visits to oncology wards and other Redkite events.

“Players visiting the kids in hospital say to me that it’s one of the most meaningful and enjoyable parts of their life at the club outside of being on the footy field,” Adam said.“It’s great that this partnership is still flourishing 15 years later.

“This year we want to make it really special. The Swans look great in red, Redkite looks great in red, and Swans supporters look great in red. Let’s turn the SCG into a sea of red on June the 19th.”

Redkite CEO Jenni Seton said the difference the Swans have made is significant.

“The loyal members and fans of the Sydney Swans should feel proud of the contribution the club and its players make to children and young people with cancer. Together we’re a big family providing real support in our community.

“The Swans have hosted an annual Redkite celebrity game to help raise awareness of Redkite’s services and the players have made an immense impact by their regular hospital visits, and so much more.”

The #RedDay on Sunday 19 June 2016 will see  families participating in a guard of honour, and acelebrity AFL 9s match before the main game.

Swans fans will wear red, and are encouraged to buy a red headband, or donate a gold coin to reflect the club’s 15-year partnership, and to make a difference to lives of children and young people facing cancer.
