Myer Stores Community Fund raises precious metal in support of Redkite

June 2014 For the second year, Redkite was honoured to be the nominated charity for the Myer Stores Community Fund Precious Metal Ball, a prestigious annual black-tie event held at The Palladium at Crown in Melbourne.

Attended by a record-breaking 930 people, this year’s exclusive event saw the Myer Stores Community Fund raise an incredible $250,000 for Redkite. Funds raised through the 2014 Precious Metal Ball will ensure a further 100 children, young people and their families are provided with essential support for a full year of their cancer journey.

Redkite Ambassadors Adam Spencer and Magdalena Roze were delighted to once again donate their time to MC the event. Attendees were treated to special performances by Dami Im, Justice Crew, the cast from WICKED The Musical and The Tim Campbell Band.

Guest speaker Kris shared her family's experience of when their two-year-old son was diagnosed with cancer. Kris’ story touched and inspired guests, and highlighted the importance of Redkite’s support for families, including counsellingtelegroupssocial workers in hospital and financial assistance

Many attendees supported the event by purchasing silent and live auction items. Myer ambassadors Lauren Phillips and Laura Dundovic joined Redkite Ambassador Les Hill, and Winners and Losers' castmates Virginia Gay and Tom Wren in assisting as companies and individuals made generous pledge donations to Redkite.

Through an interactive social media campaign, guests were given the opportunity to share messages of support for families facing cancer through beautiful photos taken on the red carpet by Redkite photographer Damian White.

We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks and congratulations to Myer Community Stores Fund for their continued generosity and support through this outstanding event.
