Country Road unveils a new Red Bag for families facing cancer

The new bag and teddy from Country RoadJune 2019 Country Road has unveiled an updated Redkite Red Bag. For over 10 years, Country Road and Redkite have worked together to ensure families are not alone when facing a cancer diagnosis in hospital. The Redkite diagnosis bag, affectionately known as the Red Bag, is given to families at a devastating time, providing practical and emotional support from the very beginning of their cancer journey.

The bag contains the essentials, including items that parents haven’t had a chance to pack, such as toothpaste, and even a teddy bear to comfort the sick child. The practical nature of the bag, along with the care that it symbolises,  means so much to families across Australia. Country Road has been an unwavering supporter of this important bag, continually innovating its contents so families facing cancer know Redkite is there for them.

To mark 10 years of the Redkite and Country Road Red Bag, the talented and passionate Country Road team have designed a new bag, complete with treasured trademarks as well as updated functionality and a refreshed look. Packing important items like medical information or favourite toys will be even easier thanks to additional pockets, while a carefully selected durable fabric means the famous duffle bag will continue to be a reliable overnight bag for hospital stays, for as long as it takes.

The new Country Road Red Bag and its contentsFamilies often share with us that the Red Bag helped them recognise other families facing cancer. This moment of connection will continue, with a new Redkite design that families will recognise. We are also pleased to share that the team has thoughtfully created an updated teddy bear to join the refreshed bags, ready to provide comfort through the scary or tough times. He’s often an important friend when a favourite toy has been left at home in the rush to get to the hospital.

"When the Country Road team approached us with the idea to refresh the Red Bag, they had already put so much care and thought into the redesign, keeping the red stripe trademark of the bag while freshening up the look and adding new functionality. They know just how much this bag means to parents when they are told the devastating news of their child's cancer diagnosis. We could not be more proud to work alongside the Country Road team in support of children and families, and we know this new bag will be as treasured and gratefully received as the thousands that have gone before," says Monique Keighery, Redkite CEO.
