Country Road: supporting families at diagnosis

March 2014 Country Road staff recently donated their time to help pack Redkite’s Red Bags – bags that provide essential support items to families whose child is diagnosed with cancer.

Over two days, 23 Country Road staff helped to pack 600 Red Bags with items including cancer support information, a teddy bear to cuddle, a reusable coffee cup and toiletries.

“Red Bags are provided to families at a time when many have to go straight from the doctor’s surgery to hospital and can stay for weeks or months during their child’s treatment,” says Redkite Partnership Manager, Emma Breidahl.

“The long-term support of Country Road has helped to ensure Redkite can be there for thousands of families when life is turned upside down by a cancer diagnosis.”

Country Road have generously supported Redkite’s Red Bag program since 2008, ensuring Redkite could provide over 2500 Red Bags to families at the devastating time of their child’s cancer diagnosis. Red Bags are distributed to children’s hospitals across Australia.

“Our staff always look forward to helping to pack Redkite’s Red Bags, as it’s something they feel quite passionate about.  We all know of someone who has been touched by cancer and what a traumatic time the moment of diagnosis can be. We’re pleased to support this program, knowing the practical items contained in these bags can make time families’ stay in hospital somewhat easier”, says Country Road Manager Director, Sophie Holt.
