Media Alert: Investing in non-medial support for families facing childhood cancer is a hand-up, not a hand-out

Minister for Health and Aged Care to launch Redkite’s Social Return on Investment Analysis at Parliament House on 30 November 2022

Childhood cancer is a complex trauma that affects every family member. Its long-term nature and impact on almost every aspect of life threaten the family’s survival. The breadth and extent of families’ needs are often unseen and unacknowledged compared to medical care but significantly impact the Australian community.

At this event attended by Government Health and Business Leaders, Redkite will launch a Forecast Social Return on Investment Analysis that will demonstrate investing in specialised psychosocial, non-medical support services for families facing childhood cancer is a hand-up, not a hand-out.

  • The Hon Mark Butler MP, Minister for Health and Aged Care
  • Senator the Hon Anne Ruston
  • Monique Keighery, Redkite CEO
  • Mark Rigotti, Redkite Chair

How do you talk to a child about cancer and what’s happening to them? How do you help them express their feelings? Nothing about cancer is easy.
