Three travellers who braved the Australian outback on scooters to raise much-needed funds for Redkite celebrated finishing their 5500km epic journey in Perth on Saturday, 29th August with an enthusiastic reception from the Sunshine Coast Scooter Club and other supporters.
Starting in Sydney, Alex Stueber, Bruno Zanetti and Luiz Pereira da Costa finished their challenging ‘2Scooters Adventure’ road trip after an amazing journey across the country to raise funds for Redkite that supports children and young people with cancer and their families. Alex said: “We wanted to make our journey across Australia an adventure while raising money for a good cause so we decided to ride scooters and ask people to sponsor us. “We have met many challenges during the journey; however, the support from people we have met along the way has been inspiring.” By the time the trio reached Perth the scooters and support car had travelled through a range of regional towns, state capitals and national parks including Melbourne, Port Lincoln, Nullabor National Park and Narrogin, before arriving at their destination. Deborah Hill from Redkite said: “We are thrilled at this novel and adventurous way to fundraise for Redkite. We receive no government funding and rely entirely on community support so we are grateful to Alex, Bruno and Luiz for raising awareness about Redkite’s vital services across Australia.” The team hopes to raise $1 per kilometre travelled, bringing the fundraising target to $5500.
