Sydney Twestival supports Redkite

On Thursday 24 March, Sydneysiders gathered to tweet, meet and give at Sydney Twestival 2011. The night was a great success, and Redkite would like to thank all who came together in support of children and young people with cancer. Check out a slideshow of the event below:

On Thursday March 24, over 160 cities around the world utilised the power of social media to organise events in support of good causes.

Redkite was nominated as the charity of choice by organisers of the Sydney Local Twestival – n2ncommunications and Fuel Communications. They organised a fundraising event at the Beresford in Sydney.
  • These fantastic organisers had sold the second most tickets internationally two days before the event.
  • Sydney Twestival sold out with additional tickets being issued twice to cater for demand.
  • "#SydneyTwestival" was the second highest trending topic on Twitter in NSW during the week of the NSW state election.
  • Over 300 people attended Sydney Twestival. The Beresford was abuzz with people tweeting, meeting and giving for a good cause.
  • From ticket sales and initiatives on the night including a live auction, an incredible $16, 710 was raised.
Redkite would like to thank all of those who supported this amazing event, including those who donated raffle and auction prizes, provided the venue, attended and those who volunteered their time and resources.

Twestival is the largest global grassroots social media fundraising initiative to date. Since 2009, volunteers have raised close to $1.2 million for 137 nonprofits. All local events are organised 100 per cent  by volunteers and 100 per cent of all ticket sales and donations go direct to projects.
