if treatment doesn't work

Unfortunately, sometimes cancer cannot be cured. This is understandably a devastating thought. Coming to terms with it may seem unbearable.

There's no right or wrong way to feel or cope with this news. It can be hard to describe the waves of emotion involved. Some people who have been through this experience say it is possible to feel fear, devastation, anger and denial simultaneously. Others say they were completely numb.

Along with strong emotions, you may also have questions such as:

  • What happens next?
  • Where is the best place to go for care?
  • Who do I need to talk to?
  • How do I tell people?
  • What do I need to organise?

We know the information here is just a start. Please don't hesitate to contact our support team on 1800 REDKITE (1800 733 548) or support@redkite.org.au if you have questions or just need to talk to someone.

You may feel alone in this. Your experience is of course unique, but there are people here to help and support you, including Redkite.
