Know where you want to be but having trouble getting there? Dare to Dream with a Redkite Scholarship, open to young Australians 16 to 24 who have had a diagnosis of cancer at some point in their life.
Redkite has been supporting young people diagnosed with cancer for over 26 years. Getting through cancer can be tough and interrupt study, work and other areas of personal interest in their life. We want to support young people diagnosed with cancer to get them where they want to go!
Applications for 2010 are now open and the following scholarships will be available:
- 1 x $5000 National Scholarship (Given in addition to one of the $2000 State or Regional Scholarships)
- 6 x $2000 State and Regional Scholarships (NSW/ACT, Hunter Region, QLD, SA/NT, WA, VIC/TAS)
- 12 x $1000 High Commendation Awards
- 12 x $500 Encouragement Award

How do I apply?
- You or the person nominating you completes the nomination form.
- You/your nominator must agree to the scholarship guidelines and sign the nomination form.
- For young people under 18 years old, a parent or guardian must sign their consent to the nomination.
- You/your nominator must attach the completed medical referee form to this nomination form (this may be a GP, Oncologist, Care Coordinator, or Social Worker).
- You/your nominator must include details of one independent referee confirming your/the young person’s abilities and commitment to their goals described in this nomination form.
What kind of things will the Redkite Scholarship fund?
If you have an educational or vocational goal and need a little extra support apply for a Redkite Scholarship. Past recipients of a Redkite Scholarship have used their scholarship to fund further education, help to pay for textbooks and course fees, purchase a laptop,purchase art equipment such as a camera, or even fund the production of a DVD.
Who is eligible for a Redkite Scholarship?
The nominee must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible for a Redkite Scholarship:
- Aged between 16 and 24 years inclusive on 5 July, 2010
- Have been diagnosed with cancer at some stage in their life
- Must be a permanent resident in Australia
- Have not already received a Redkite National Scholarship (see guidelines for more information)
- All nominations must include a medical referee and one independent referee confirming the young person’s personal circumstances
