Nicole calls her son ‘Mr Christmas’ because he just loved the festive season. Jeremiah was undergoing radiation treatment when a Redkite Christmas food hamper was delivered to his family. “The kids were so excited,” Nicole said.

Redkite also supplied a Red Bag full of essential items, helped with household expenses and paid for petrol to get Jeremiah’s dad to the hospital.

When Jeremiah, aged eight, passed away Nicole found leaving the hospital and returning home to the country incredibly isolating. “I didn’t have other parents to talk to who understood. To help her cope with losing Jeremiah, Nicole decided to join one of Redkite’s professionally facilitated telephone support groups which brought together bereaved parents. “The telegroup changed my life. You realise how similar your journey is.” Nicole has stayed in contact with the parents who participated in the telegroup. “I tell myself I can do this because they are doing this too. I know I’m not alone”.

“Redkite helps you be there more for your children. After Jeremiah’s death, Redkite’s support helped me be there for my daughter and husband as well”.
