A unique Christmas light show created by Redkite supporters in Lithgow has wowed locals and raised $2,500 for children and young people with cancer. For the second year in a row Dave, Suellen and their family have staged a dazzling display to raise money for Redkite. This year’s music-synchronised extravaganza was even bigger than the last. “In the last two years we have increased from 33,000 lights to 55,000 lights,” Dave explained. “Over 500 sets of lights were used, controlled by 509 individual output channels… [The setup] ended up turning into a 15 day process.” You can see the amazing result here:
Dave summed up the audience’s reaction in one word: “Wow”. Some fans returned three and four times to experience the show, with some travelling from as far away as Sydney. Not surprisingly the unique display attracted some media coverage as well. Dave was interviewed by the Lithgow Mercury, and featured on local radio stations 2T and 107.9FM. An appearance on Prime News along with footage of the impressive display, earned valuable exposure for his light show, and for Redkite. When asked why he and his family picked Redkite as their chosen charity, Dave replied: “To be honest, I hope our family never has to rely on the support of Redkite, but I know that there are people out there who need Redkite’s support, and it has been our privilege to raise $6,000 in the last two years to support them, and to continue this support into the future. While this has only been a “drop in the bucket”, we do feel as if we have helped make a difference, even a small one, to the families out there who are supported by this great charity.” |
