Meet the team: Natanya Bradley,Education and Career Support Specialist

Take us through a day in the life of a Redkite Education and Career (ECS) Specialist

Every day is different! I meet young people where it suits them, whether that’s at the hospital where they’re being treated, at the You Can Centre or in our counselling room at our Redkite office in Perth. I also connect with universities and schools in WA, assisting young people in liaising with their educational institutions to get the right support in place. I network in our community to keep up to date with opportunities for young people.

The work varies enormously, always tailored to what the individual would like to achieve. I might be able to help someone reengage with school, university or TAFE, assist with writing job applications, practice interview skills or help someone figure out what work fits with their values, interests and preferences.

Natanya Education and Career Specialist

When I’m in the office, I spend my time providing support by email and telephone, researching courses and job opportunities and developing resources or programs that help young people identify their goals, make plans and develop skills in finding work.

How did you get involved in this field?

My first job after completing university was in graduate recruitment. Looking back, this is when I realised how much I love working with young people. I went on to train as an Organisational Psychologist, specialising in assessment for selection and development in organisations and developing programs that improve individual and business performance.

Coming back to the workplace after taking a career break, I am passionate about work that makes a real difference to people’s lives. I completed a Graduate Diploma in Career Education and Development, and worked as a Career Advisor at the University of Western Australia before joining Redkite. I remember seeing the advertisement for the role at Redkite and thinking, “That’s exactly what I’d love to be doing.”

I am consistently in awe of the strength and resilience I see in the people I work with, and am passionate about providing support that helps them engage in education and employment.

What's been the highlight of your time at Redkite so far?

Dare to Dream! I love working on the Dare to Dream scholarship program . It is such a wonderful experience to help people write about their dreams and then to read all of the amazing applications. I’m just thankful I don’t have to make the final decisions on winners as every application is an inspiration. I’m very excited that we’re about to launch Dare to Dream for 2017.

Any suggestions for young people who aren't sure what an ECS consultant can do for them?

Just give us a call or send us an email. We’re happy to talk with you about where you’re at and what type of advice and support might be helpful for you both now and in the future. Remember we can work with you until you turn 25, so this means through different transitions such as finishing school, starting tertiary education or working. An ECS consultant can help you work out what your goals are and develop plans to achieve you’re them. We can also work with you to develop the skills you’ll need to manage your future career.
