How can email and telephone services support my child?

Email and Telephone support are Redkite services which aim to support children and young people with cancer, their families and friends.

We know that parents are an extremely important part of a young person’s life. Redkite strongly supports parental involvement in the decisions and actions of their children’s lives.

However, many young people have told us they are very concerned about their parents distress and that this makes it difficult for them to approach their parents with their own fears and worries. Some young people do not have access to parental support. Redkite’s Email and Telephone support can assist young people in a variety of ways, through:
  • Supporting the young person to think through and manage emotional issues
  • Building skills and strengths to manage the challenges of the cancer experience
  • Access to appropriate educative cancer support information
  • Helping them to communicate with their parents, other family members and friends
Young people under 14 require parent/guardian consent to use email and telephone support. For further details please visit the consent section or contact us on 1300 722 644 or support@redkite.org.au for more information.

Redkite is not an urgent crisis service. If you need urgent support, we strongly suggest you contact your treatment centre or Lifeline on 13 11 14 or  www.lifeline.org.au.
