Brightexpectations runs the race of its life for Redkite

Gai Waterhouse with horse Brightexpectations meets Redkite fansUp to $375,000 could be donated to Redkite if Brightexpectations, a horse racing in the Golden Slipper this weekend, wins.

The race will see jockey Nash Rawiller taking the reigns as he rides Gai Waterhouse’s Brightexpectations in what will be a nail biting race.

Racing NSW has generously committed to donating $250,000 of their prize winnings if Bright Expectations takes first place. Tabcorp has also thrown its support behind Redkite by donating $125,000 should the horse win.

Jane Endacott, Redkite’s General Manager of Fundraising and Marketing said: “Thank you to Racing NSW and Tabcorp for choosing to donate up to $375,000 of the winnings to Redkite to help children and young people with cancer and their families.

“Brightexpectations will be running the race of his life and a win will enable Redkite to continue providing vital support for families in need - both in the hospital and the community.

“Redkite was nominated as the charity for Racing’s Night of Champions Awards night many years ago and it was through that relationship that other individuals within the NSW Racing community have been inspired by the services that Redkite provides. We are extremely grateful for their support.”

The Golden Slipper will take place at 4.05pm this Saturday, 3 April at Rosehill Gardens and will be televised on Channel 9.
