Go Red for Redkite FAQs

To help you get started please read the Frequently Asked Questions:

Q:
When should I hold my Go Red for Redkite day?
A: Anytime in term two is preferable but you don’t have to limit yourself to this period. Anytime is a good time to raise funds for Redkite. We are grateful of your fundraising efforts throughout the year.

Q:  What resources can Redkite offer to support our fundraising effort?
A:  Redkite is happy to provide balloons for participating schools and posters to promote your fundraising and badges to sell on the day. Call your Redkite state office to place your order and quantities.

Q: How should we communicate this fundraising effort to parents?
A: We suggest you notify parents through the school newsletter or email communication. You’ll find information Redkite in the Go Red for Redkite kit.

Q:  Is this a tax deductible donation from the school?
A: The school is not eligible to claim a tax deduction if gold coin donations are received from students. However, if your school makes a donation over and above the student contribution, the school’s donation is tax deductible. Redkite donation slips are available in the Go Red for Redkite kit for individuals who care to make a greater contribution that is tax deductible.

Q:  How should I bank the money?
A:  Please write a cheque for the amount received and post this to your Redktie state office along with a letter specifying how the money was raised. Do not send cash. Direct deposit is available. Please email Redkite at info@redkite.org.au for details. Redkite will gratefully acknowledge the money received.

Q:  Can our school notify the media about our fundraising effort?
A: Yes, we'd be delighted if you contact local media. Please let us know if you do – we can provide quotes for your media release.

Q:  What age group is Go Red For Redkite suited to?
A: Any year can participate! The program is just as suitable for children in kindergarten to students in Year 12.
