![]() ABC radio listeners around NSW showed off their generous Christmas spirit by donating to the 702 ABC Sydney and ABC Local Radio NSW virtual Giving Tree this festive season, raising $73,300 for Redkite families. “Listeners from across NSW made a gift in lieu this Christmas to help provide real and practical support for families currently affected by childhood cancer,” explains Peter Brennan, ABC Local Radio Content Manager NSW. “ABC Local Radio listeners purchased online vouchers to help families with household bills, phone cards, transport, gifts and the overall well-being of their sick child.” Redkite’s General Manager Marketing & Fundraising, Jane Endacott, said: “Christmas can be a very difficult emotional and financial time for families who have a son or daughter with cancer. “Redkite and ABC Local Radio were committed to making Christmas time for these families as special as possible by alleviating some of their pressures they are under so we are grateful to all the ABC listeners who have been so generous this festive season.” Redkite receives no government funding so would like to thank the ABC for its support to make a real and special difference to families going through the difficult cancer journey.
