Community Fundraising FAQs
Where does the money go?
You will be making a huge difference to children and young people with cancer and their families. Your donation will go towards Redkite’s essential support programs including financial support, education and career assistance and information support and counselling.
Why do I need to register my event with Redkite?
By letting us know beforehand what you are planning, we can help you to make your activity as successful as possible. We need to assess each event to ensure it is appropriate to our values, and also abides by state and federal regulations. Once it is approved, we will provide you with an approval letter to raise funds on our behalf which you may need to show donors, sponsors and those supporting your efforts. We will also provide you with a welcome kit that includes fundraising tips and guidance.
Planning your event
Can Redkite help organise my event?
We are unable to assist with the logistics, but can provide expert guidance, support and resources to your fundraising event to help make it as successful as possible. Call 1800 REDKITE or email firstname.lastname@example.org to talk to a member of Redkite’s fundraising team.
Can Redkite help with any event costs?
Redkite is unable to support you with your costs and you will need to manage all event income and expenditure yourself. A budget template is provided in the Fundraising Guidelines document which you can use to help plan and manage your income and expenses.
What resources can Redkite offer to support my fundraising effort?
We want to make your event as fun and successful as possible. We can offer balloons, raffle tickets, posters and information on Redkite to share with your guests. Please email us with your request at email@example.com
Can a Redkite representative attend my event?
Although Redkite would like to attend all community events, this is not always possible. Requests for speakers will be assessed based on availability of our team. If you would like a Redkite speaker, please advise Redkite in good time with your requirements. If a team member is unable to attend, we have videos and speeches prepared that you can use.
Do I need insurance for my event?
Some events can be risky, or it is a requirement by council to have insurance. Redkite insurance does not cover third party fundraising so if you are holding an event in a public space you will most likely need public liability insurance. If you are participating in a significant and/or risky physical challenge Redkite may request that you have personal health insurance and complete a risk assessment.
Why do I need permission to use the Redkite logo and get promotional materials approved?
As you can appreciate, our name and logo is of great value to Redkite. By ensuring all promotional material meets Redkite’s guidelines, we can ensure Redkite is presented in a consistent and recognisable way in the community. Today, there are families missing out on our support programs because they don’t know about Redkite. We need to be visually recognisable in order to be top of mind. Having a strong brand can also enable you to best promote your activity.
Can Redkite promote my event on their social media?
Unfortunately Redkite cannot accommodate all requests to advertise community events on our social media. However, Redkite encourages you to post directly on our facebook page or tweet @redkite with your exciting event details. You may also like to consider setting up your own Facebook page and promoting your event through your own social media networks.
If it is a public event, we can also list it on the Redkite website in our event calendar.
