Mango auction bears fruit for Redkite

Susan Lorenti of Clayfield Markets Fresh has been crowned Queensland’s first Mango Queen at the Brisbane Markets Mango Auction held on 8 October, 2009, after bidding $45,000 for the symbolic first tray of mangoes for the season.

Now in its 12th year, the popular auction raised $70,000 this year with proceeds going to two charities, Redkite and Life Education Queensland.

Relationship Manager Thea Sitcheff from Redkite, said: “The Brisbane Markets Mango Auction is a fantastic and unique fundraising event.  We are very grateful to Susan and the Brisbane Markets community for their wonderful ongoing support. 

“Over $200,000 has been raised for Redkite over the past seven years providing invaluable support to families through the long and difficult journey of childhood and adolescent cancer.”
