Brett Kirk at a Redkite Family Day

Sydney Swans Captain and Redkite ambassador, Brett Kirk, has been nominated for the 2010 Philips Sports Dad of the Year Awards.

The busy father of four is a great role model for young Australians. Kirk has been well respected throughout his successful football career for his outstanding leadership skills and generous community spirit. He has also been an important and valued ambassador for Redkite for over 10 years.

Many children and young people supported by Redkite will be voting for Kirk. They have met him during his regular visits to Sydney Children’s Hospital and participation at Redkite Family Days.

Kirk describes Redkite as his “favourite charity”. He has just announced that if he wins the Philips Sports Dad of the Year Award, he’ll donate the $5000 prize to Redkite. His announcement reflects his commitment to children and young people with cancer.

Redkite is also the Swans players’ nominated charity. The football club has provided vital opportunities to raise awareness about Redkite support services for children and young people with cancer and their families. Sydney Swans' generous support for Redkite has included meeting children and young people with cancer and assisting with the Redkite Celebrity Football Matches held at the SCG prior to Swans matches.

Kirk is father to to Indhi, twins Memphys and Tallulah, and Sadie. The winner of the 2010 Philips Sports Dad of the Year will be announced soon. You can vote for Brett Kirk by visiting the Philips Sports Dad of the Year Award 2010 website.
