2012 Swans Family Day

Face Painting as Redkite Swans Day

Generous volunteers helped with face-painting
- red and white, of course!

Friday 14 June 2012 Redkite hosted its annual Family Day with the Sydney Swans on Sunday 3 June at the SCG. Families, volunteers and supporters all braved the torrential rain to enjoy an activity-filled lunch and a celebrity AFL kicking competition, before watching the Swans take on the Western Bulldogs.

Over lunch, families watched a magic show, mingled with celebs and played giant versions of games like Connect Four and Lego. Our team of hardy volunteers were on hand to help with games, colouring-in and face-painting, and later collected from the footy crowd to raise over $7,500 for Redkite.

Prior to the main match, teams of celebrities competed in a kicking competition, much to the delight of the crowd. Stars from Home and Away, Packed to the Rafters, Underbelly, Bondi Rescue and Bondi Vet demonstrated their ball skills with style and good humour. Redkite congratulates Adam Spencer, captain of the Red Team, for his stupendous winning goal.

Redkite's Family Days give families on the cancer journey a much-needed break from the challenges of cancer, and allow them to enjoy time together away from the demands of treatment. We'd like to express our thanks to the Sydney Swans, our corporate and celebrity supporters, and volunteers, for making the day such a success.

Thank you to photographers Chris Giovannis and Damian White for taking photos on the day.
